Ice Hockey

I haven’t written here in a while now. But since about two weeks ago I had my last day at work. I am now unemployed and instead working on my own little game!
As the title says it is an Ice Hockey game. I am inspired by the classic Ice Hockey for NES. I want it to be simple and fun but of course I will make the basic rules such as offside and icing.
I am planning on releasing for iPhone but I am developing the game on Linux using C++ and will port it if i ever get it to a releasable state. I will wait with buying the needed hardware because in a few months some other platform may be more attractive and I don’t want to spend money on the machines if I don’t need them.
Game programming fun

After having spent about 23 hours on the project, experimenting with physics mainly, I got some basic interaction between the game entities. For a moment I just sit and have a bit of fun with it. I found myself actually scolding one of the entities and pushing him around so he would behave. Soon they will behave worse though! It may become problematic testing the game when A.I. gets smarter.

This blog was created so I could write about the progress of making my own commercial game. The process is going to be an adventure that can end either with a product and some income or that I run out of money and must go back to a full-time job. Neither ending is a bad ending.
The idea is to live on saved money for a while and see what I can make in that time. I will have to learn how to cut down my costs as much as possible. In the first weeks of the project I am still working at my old company and can only spend some time in evenings and weekends but after my contract is terminated I have much more time to put into the project.
